Opus are now through to the National Awards final to be held at Lords Cricket Ground on the 19th November, after being named regional winners at the Awards ceremony at the new Cardiff stadium last week.
Opus International Consultants Limited’s net profit after tax for the Half Year ended 30 June 2009 was $5.1 million, compared with $9.1 million for the corresponding period in 2008. The decline reflected the impact of the global financial crisis and economic downturn, especially in the United Kingdom and Australia, where Opus had a greater reliance on private sector clients who were more seriously affected by the downturn.

Despite difficulties in the UK in the early part of 2009, Opus expects to trade for the full 2009 year in line with market expectations. However, while New Zealand and Canada continue to perform strongly and ahead of last year, and Australia is only moderately weaker, the sharp contraction in the UK economy means that Opus will have a softer than expected (but still positive) first half to 30 June 2009.
The second Annual Meeting of Shareholders since Opus International Consultants was listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange was held today in Wellington. At the meeting Opus Chairman, Kerry McDonald and Managing Director, Kevin Thompson presented their respective reports on the past year.
